In September of 2001, the Women's Club of Summerlin, Inc. became an IRS recognized 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
Our Mission: The Women's Club of Summerlin is a group of women working together to benefit the women and children of our community through philanthropic endeavors.
Our Vision: The vision of the Women's Club of Summerlin is to grow the membership of women committed to our mission and to expand our reach in the community so that we may positively influence and enrich the lives of others.
The Women's Club of Summerlin evolved into a charitable organization from its early years in existence when it was known as the Summerlin Women's Club. The Summerlin Women's Club formed in 1995 as an organization that provided networking and social activities. The focus of the club changed into an organization whose primary purpose is to provide assistance to the needy of our community.
The Club has continued its charitable mission with its donations to over 25 local charities. The donations often include "wish list" items of critical need to these charities. To date, the Women's Club of Summerlin has donated over $425,000 in cash and items. The largest donations come from Annual Charity Events, held in the fall of each year to benefit one local charity. The recipient of the Annual Charity Event must coincide with the Mission and Vision of WCS to help women or children. The Shade Tree shelter for women and children was the recipient for eight years. In recent years, the Annual Event has benefited Child Focus (programs for children in foster care), CHANGE (clothing and personal items for children at Child Haven) and S.A.F.E. House (women and children who are victims of domestic violence).
In 2003, the WCS created a grant program called Dare to Dream. The program was started with a $500 grant to one woman to help fulfill her dream of becoming certified as a specialized fitness instructor. The Dare to Dream grant has grown, enabling the Women's Club of Summerlin to expand its desire to truly change the lives of individual women. Women who are 18 and older living anywhere in the Las Vegas valley are eligible to apply for a grant during the Spring each year.
The future continues to be bright for our Club and we hope you will consider joining us. We are proud to say we have members of all ages, races, religions, educational background and political views.
